Our contact in Holland says this is one of the best weeks for viewing their
world famous tulips and we have been able to customize this trip especially for
you. We hope you like the itinerary.
I have just met with the person who will spend time with us touring the new
Naaldwyk Flower Market, where he works; plus we will be allowed to tour his
greenhouses.
Our tour includes 5 night in The Haque; then we end our trip with four nights on
a river boat. You'll explore quaint villages; watch artisans painting Delftware
china; see working windmills and we won't forget those wooden shoes and
storybook tales. And, oh yes, we can't forget all the tulips. We think you will
really enjoy traveling with us next spring to Holland!

Holland Itinerary
Thursday, April 10 We depart on our direct flight form O'Hare this
evening to Amstserdam. (Wisconsin people will go as a group to Chicago by
VanGalder Bus...cost not included.)
Friday, April 11 Our first day in Holland we have a city tour
of Amsterdam with a special stop at the Anne Frank House, plus see both the
modern and historic parts on a canal cruise. We stay the next five nights in The
Hague. Relax and unpack this afternoon. There is a welcome reception at the
hotel this evening. (B)
Saturday, April 12 After a good night's sleep we begin this
morninng with a tour of The Hague, the world's capital of international justice.
We stop at Panorama Mesdag; one of the largest and finest of its kind. It brings
the area to life. We will see the Peace Palace and travel to Scheveningen beach;
a bustling area with much to see. This afternoon we visit world famous Keukenhof
Park. You'll wander through 70 acres and more that 7 million flower plantings. A
truly magnificent sight. (B)
Sunday, April 13 We travel this morning to famous Bruges,
Belgium, "The Venice of the North", and have a walking tour of this historic
medieval town. You will see the market square and the beautiful architecture.
It's a stop everyone loves. After lunch we cruise thorugh the canals and stroll
the cobble-stone streets. (B/L/D)
Monday, April 14 - This morning we travel with our friend from
Holland to get a personal tour of the new Laaldwyk Flower Auction. He is also
going to show us his spectacular greenhouse where he works. We'll stop at a
local spot he recommends for lunch. later in the afternoon we go to Delft to see
not only the city, but the world famous Delftware facotry which is over 400
years old. You'll have a bit of free time to shop, explore the city square's
churches or just relax before we return to The Hague. (B)
Tuesday, April 15 - We travel this morning to Noord, stopping
at a farm to visit the family over coffee and cake. We will have lunch
overlooking Lake Ijssel and the we are off to Edam to visit a cheese farm. Later
we visit The Zaanse Schans, a group of 40 houses on the banks of the River Zaan,
which are known for their steep roofs, white windows and green timbers. We also
visit an original windmill where the miller explains its history, construction
and techniques which have been used for centuries to operate it. This charming
village also has a clock museum, folklore clothing shop and wooden shoe maker.
We embark on our cruise tonight. (B/L/D)
Wednesday, April 16 Before we begin our cruise today, we will
visit the famous Aalsmeer flower auction where 19 million flowers from around
the world are flown in and sold each day. We begin our cruise at noon to
Rotterdam as we enjoy spring time in Holland. (B/L/D)
Thursday, April 17 We learn about the past and present on our
Rotterdam tour this morning. Located on the Rhine, you'll see the modern city,
busy shopping areas, cubical homes, harbor area and Erasmus Bridge. Enjoy a
beautiful afternoon on the river as we approach Antwerp. (B/L/D)
Friday, April 18 Today we have a tram tour of Antwerp,
Belgium, the second largest European port. Enjoy the 16th century architecture
and the cathedral housing paintings by Flemish master Rubens. Antwerp is also
famous for its beautiful diamonds. This afternoon we cruise to Schoonhoven; a
lovely 13th century town known for its silversmithing. (B/L/D)
Saturday, April 19 Back in Amsterdam, we disembark from our
boat. Before departing Holland, we'll complete our tour of the Amsterdam area
with a few stops we missed our first day; and maybe some shopping. (B)
